Well we are back to Colorado to finish up my Student Teaching. I have been student teaching for two weeks and have really liked it. Right now I am teaching 6th-8th graders my mentor teacher says I really lucked out and have pretty good classes for the most part so that makes it nice. Stratton is looking for a job and also been studying for is OATS test. We hope he gets accepted this year but its a pretty competitive field right now. He has applied to Illinois, Missouri, and Pennsylvania so for now its just playing the waiting game. It's weird being back in Colorado and not play ball but its fun spending time with Stratton. We both are so grateful for the many blessing we have received this last year and are so grateful for our wonderful families.

Good luck Stephen!

Well this last weekend was great! We had the opportunity to spend lots of time with family and that's always great. Today is my big brothers BIRTHDAY so this weekend we got to spend some time with him and his family which is always great. (Happy Birthday Monty) We also had a great time cooking-out down in the canyon with all my family. Then it was also Stephens farewell talk this weekend so we had a good time Saturday rock climbing with Stephen and Justin and then Sunday we got to listen to him talk and say our good bye its crazy to think he will be gone for two years but we are really proud of him. It's always fun spending time with our family and we are very blessed to have two great families that love and support us.

Some might think that Stratton and I hate eachother but this is just the reality of playing college basketball. Sometimes it is amazing that Stratton still loves me and he even goes to church with a girl looking like this. It was so funny telling my little 5 year old primary kids that I have a black eye and they would not believe me they thought i got into a marker fight haha. It has been one rough season to the face but the good thing is we still love each other! Look at what can happen in one year. One broken nose, one black eye and 7 stitches. I started to joke around that Stratton beats me but i guess their is a lot of that around Alamosa because everybody thought i was serious, not a good joke, Stratton made me promise to stop telling people that :)

My baby sister won't post how awesome she is at basketball so i guess I'm going to have to do. Misti is the starting point guard this year for the grizzles. Her team is in 2ND place in the rocky mountain athletic conferences. They have won 9 games and lost 2. She is also part of the second team rocky mountain athletic conference all academic. Its been so fun watching her and Stratton play this year. We are so proud of both of them. Don't hate me for bragging but i just wanted to let people know what my little sis been doing.

Well we had one quick but awesome weekend. My sister Marti had her baby and all the family was going this weekend to Snowflake to see baby Brewer. This is always the hardest time for me to know everybody is at home and i can't be there, but not this time surprise look who showed up. It all started 5:30 Friday night Stratton came home from weights and said do you want to go to the movies tonight and so he called and all the Movies this weekend in Alamosa were rated R so that was a no go. Then he was like lets go to Snowflake and you don't have to tell me twice I was like really woohoo bags packed sitting in the truck haha, bu he said just one thing you have to keep me awake. If you know me as soon as i get in the truck I fall asleep but i stayed awake the whole time and we made it to Snowflake at 12:45 in the morning and everybody was sleeping so i went into my moms room and she was like Porter what do you need of course Porter would be walking around that late then she was like Misti what are you doing haha it was pretty good. Then i went and woke up Monty and Kendra and Krew was just laying in bed smiling haha good times. We had a great weekend so many babies nobody had to fight over holding a baby and of course my moms awesome cooking she works so hard and makes the best food. That was are awesome weekend with the best family in the world.

Summer Fun

>Well we are back in Colorado for one last year woohoo. We had a lot of fun hanging out with my family this last month. I love my family so much thanks Mom and Dad for giving us a place to live and food to eat you guys are the best. I could just hang out with my mom all day and be happy she is one awesome mom and lots of fun. Not to many moms take their little girl and boy out in their car and shoot prairie dogs. Even though they never wanted me to shoot i did kill one prairie dog it was awesome. We also got to see Porter and Domini and the little baby Mallory she is so cute and so tiny. I don't think i could ever take care of something that small. haha It's fun to see Porter be a dad and i have to say he is a pretty good one kind of a surprise haha jk He put up with me he can handle anything. Next we got to go and see Kase Carter Caldwell my brother Montys boy and he was alot bigger then Mallory i was not so scared to hold him but still a little scared. We also got to hang out with Krew and Reagan. They are awesome kids and i miss them so much. When i was at EA i got to play with them everyday so it was good to see them and play with them. Krew also became my little buddy and even stayed the night with us. That was a surprise to us all. Last Strattons parents took us to Mexico that was alot of fun. I have alot of pics of Mexico thanks to Strattons mom.

Stratton was playing basketball today with his team and being the tall giant that he is, elbows usually fly right at his face sometimes he comes home with a black eyes, goose eggs on his forehead but today was the lucky day for the nose. We went to the trainer here at Adams State and he said he doesn't think it's broken he thinks its just cartilage so i guess it will go back to normal we hope. What do you think? It looks pretty painful but he is one tough cookie. I don't know how he does it but he never cries so i guess i make up for the both of us ;) So it's been along time since I have updated we are both doing good just working basketball camps after basketball camps. We will be in Snowflake for the month of July and we can't wait!!!!

Daylight Savings.....What?

Yesterday Stratton and I got up and got ready for church that starts at 9. We were pretty excited because we were going to be on time, and we didn't have any late basketball games and we werent getting home at 5 in the morning from traveling. So we drove to church and there were a lot of cars at church already. As we got out i kind of jokingly said "did church start at 8 today." So we walk in to the church and sacrament meeting has already started. At first We were like "that's weird", we thought we were going to be a minute or two early. So we walk in to find a seat and everybody is smiling so big at us and some people are even laughing it was really strange. So we sit down and Stratton looks up at the clock and started laughing so hard and was like Misti it's almost 10 and i still didn't get it. First I thought "did the electricity go off last night" I was just so confused and then Stratton told me daylight savings began last night..... Oh man we felt so stupid and it was pretty much the joke of the ward that day. Stupid Arizona kids forgot to set their clocks ahead haha Joke on us! It was pretty funny. So welcome Daylight savings! I still don't understand it.

Misti & Stratton Solmon share bonds of competitiveness, marriage; by Eric Flores
Adams State College is not for everyone, but for Misti and Stratton Solomon it is the perfect place.Stratton and Misti are transfer students here and they both play basketball. The two are here together sharing the bond of marriage. On top of that, they share another bond that is known around the world known as competitiveness.
"We are competitive in everything we do," explained Misti. "Any type of game, including sports and board games."
When the two met they remember playing racquetball. "We played three games and he didn't even score one point," noted Misti."It turns out her aunt plays and is extremely good. Misti humbled me," Stratton noted.
The competitiveness and shared passion for sports led the couple to start dating. Their competitiveness and friendship grew and led the couple to marriage in the summer of 2007. Now Stratton has as many chances as he wants to try and defeat Misti in racquetball.
They lived their first year in Arizona where Misti was a basketball player for Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Stratton cheered his wife on as Misti played on the Gila Monster team.
As he remembered this, Stratton jokingly said, "She improved and she is now ten times better as a Solomon than a Caldwell (Misti’s maiden name).”
"Getting married wasn't weird at all," said Misti, who changed her name after the marriage. "The only thing that I thought was weird was when they introduced me and announced my name at games and I would ask myself, 'who's that?'"
And with that Misti and Stratton are both being introduced to a new life and a new college. The trip to Adams State was an interesting one for these two. The two were introduced to Adams State because Misti's brother, Porter, had decided to transfer and try and play for the Grizzly men’s basketball team. Misty and Stratton decided to transfer because “my time was up, and I had to go somewhere if I still wanted to play,” said Misti.
"Originally my brother was going to transfer over and play for the ASC men's team," Misti said. "When he got here he found out that his credits wouldn't transfer."
"Misti and Porter were well known in Arizona, they were recruited to play here," explained Stratton. "We originally came because we thought there would be family here but even with the fallout of Porter's credits we still decided to stay here because they had a lot to offer Misti."
When the two found out that Porter’s credits would not transfer they thought about what they would do next. After some deliberation the two came up with a conclusion. "If they take my credits and they have the classes I need for my degree then this is the place I need to be," said Misti, who made it through the recruiting process and made it on ASC's women's basketball team. Stratton walked on to the men's team and he made it as well.
Because the two teams travel together to conference games, they spend time together sitting with each other on the bus as the coaches had no choice but to let them.
On the academic side, Misti wants to be a physical education teacher while Stratton wants to major in athletic administration. Last semester they had three classes together and this semester, they have only one. Because of all these shared classes the two have shared some awkward moments.
"I remember the teacher asking if Misti and I were related and I just laughed and said, ‘yeah,’" Stratton explained. "Even though there were other students that thought we were cousins."
When posed with the question how other people react when they find out they are married, they just smile and laugh. "My teammates thought it was weird at first," said Misti.
"My teammates still think it's weird," agreed Stratton. "When I talk about Misti I say wife, so to them it's different." Seconds later he went on to laugh as he said, "If people think it's weird then weird we'll be."
The two are very strong supporters of one another as much as they can. "When I see her play I never thought it would play on my emotions but when I became her husband it did," noted Stratton. "You want to see her succeed, and you get nervous when they go down hard."
With such great support they are each putting up some strong numbers this season. Misti leads the team with 22 steals and is second on the team in scoring as she is averaging 10.5 points and a game and was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden West Division Player of the Week on January 5th. Stratton has 22 assists and has played in 16 games, while making four starts for the Grizzlies.
After a loss by either team, both agreed that neither of them complains because they know what it's like and they both have gone through it.
Everyday is the same. "After a hard day at practice or a tough game it's always good to go home and have someone there who understands what I'm going through," said Stratton. "I really like coming home."
Their competitiveness has shown up at least once this year. During the annual basketball preview event, "The Late Show," Stratton and Misti faced off in a 3-point shooting contest. To Stratton's dismay, Misti dominated.
"It's all friendly competitiveness," laughed Misti. "But sometimes we get so competitive we have to stop what we’re doing and take a break."
However, there’s no taking a break these days, because the Grizzly women and men’s teams are in the thick of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference races, and Misti and Stratton are working hard on the court to make a difference in their teams’ success.

Well life of the the solomons is pretty exciting! It starts off with Stratton or I having practice and just when he gets out i have practice and then i get out and back to practice Stratton goes and then when he gets out back to practice i go. So we don't really see much of each other maybe if we are lucky we pass by each other in and out of practice. It's kind of funny but when the end of the day comes we are both pretty tired and we just lay on the couch trying to see who got the biggest bruise. (stratton usually wins because he is way smaller then his team so his teams elbows are at his face haha) but one night when i got out of practice i came home and Stratton had dinner made and he bought me flowers and had the table all set and had our favorite songs playing. I know i am one lucky girl and i think he just didn't want to hear me complain. haha but really stratton is one cool cat and i love him so much.

Thats my dad!!

Today is the old mans birthday and and i just wanted to wish him a happy Birthday! I hope you have a great birthday dad! My dad is one awesome guy and i love him so much. He is so kind to everybody and everybody thinks he is their best friend. He is so lovable, likable and kind hearted, and i never met a nicer person then my dad. He is a very good example to stratton and I and is always keeping us laughing. I am definitely my dad favorite child because i was a big time daddy's girl and the only child to ever like him better then my mom :) and I always kept his belly button clean i know weird but i thought that was my job. My dad and i would always have so much fun joking around with each other i would climb all over him and he would call me a little fly and then i would call him a no neck, hairy dog, comb over and we would just laugh and laugh. I am so grateful for my dad and all that he does for me and the good example he is and i hope you have a happy birthday old man.

This weekend was awesome!! Stratton and I both had a tournament in Alamosa so our parents came and watched us play. I was really excited to have family and visitors it doesn't happen much now days and it was really good to see our parents. Stratton was making fun of me because i was so happy all week waiting for them to come. It was a lot of fun and my mom brought my camera so now i can post some picture woohoo, and we just want to tell our families we love them so much and thanks so much for all the support they give us we are two lucky kids to have the best families ever!

Late Show

Well I have not posted in a long time. Stratton and I have been super busy with basketball and school and more basketball but tonight was the Adams State late show and it's just a thing were they introducing our teams and having some competitions. So of course they thought it would be cool to have Statton and me go against each other in the three point contest. Stratton's coach was talking so much crap to me today how Stratton was going to beat me but lets just say i was feeling pretty lucky tonight and killed Stratton 20-10 haha it was pretty funny but lots of fun to get out and play but the coolest thing was when the introduced us all individually they had a spot light on you and stratton did a back flip it was awesome i didn't even know he could do that he is pretty amazing and I love the all the fun we have together, living far away from home its amazing how much our relationship has grown and how much we depend on each other. Well this is what has been going on in the Solomons home maybe next time i will have picture when my wonderful mom sends me my camera that i left in snowflake.

Well today Stratton tried out for the boys basketball team and well he MADE IT!!!! I am really proud of him and all his hard work. He is my hero he works hard and never complains maybe because i don't give him time but he really is the best. It will be lots of fun we travel together on the bus, but both of our coach's said we can't sit by each other even though we are married. So get ready and pack your bags and come watch some Grizz Basketball because it's a family party!! Congrats Stratton I love you so much!!!!

This weekend was a great weekend. We had our first week of school and some hard conditioning in practice so nothing was better then hanging out with my parents and Gunner. They got here Friday and we just showed them around the pretty town of Alamosa haha. Then on Saturday we woke up and went to Durango the drive was really pretty my family said but i have the hardest time staying awake in the car i dont know what it is, maybe that rocking feeling or something but anyways we got there and Gunner, Stratton and I went Kayaking it was pretty fun the rapids where crazy jk but it was lots of fun. Then we went to this Chuck Wagon Stake house it was cool, i thought it was going to be lame cowboy want to be singers but it was pretty funny Stratton wants to be a cowboy now. Then we drove all the way back to Alamosa because every hotel was booked crazy. Then the next day we went on a picnic around Chama and wow BEAutiful and Gunner got out in the river he is a little nature boy and a fun, fun, kid he is just fun to be around because whatever we do he loves it haha. Then all my dad wanted to do was ride the train but we keep missing them darn but he did get to check the trains out. So this was our great weekend with my family I love them so much. I for sure have the best family in the world

Back To Colorado

Well its always so hard to leave family because our family spoils us so much. We are so grateful for our families they both do so much its amazing we ever even leave. Thanks to my family for letting us stay and bum every meal my mom is amazing i don't know how she keeps up with cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner is something i always expect to just be on the table all the time but now that i have to cook wow mom your amazing nothing better then hanging out with my mom all day and waiting for Gunner to come home for school to have somebody to tease and to find out what dumb thing my dad has next on his mind. It's also fun to hang out with my sister and Cooper, Marti is always looking out for me and making sweet things for my house. Then Strattons family spoils us with more then we deserve we where thinking of trading in the little blue truck for a four wheel drive because we thought we might need it in Colorado and thanks to Brent he hooked us up with a beautiful truck. What a blessing family is they are so supportive and want the best for us all the time what would Stratton and I do without our family they are the best.

Well my little brother survived heart surgery he is a very tough kid and we love him so much. We are so thankful for the many blessings in our life and for my little brother to be ok. I don't know what our family would do with out Gunner he is our entertainment he always has everybody laughing. He has been the best little brother and i love him to death. My parents have also been really strong you can't even imagine what my mom has gone through to think her little boy died in her arms would be the worse feeling ever, but my mom and dad are both super strong and are the best parents ever, true story. They have taught me so much and i love them to death. This is the little gun man taking a walk what a stud.

Today we decided to get to know the area a little. Stratton and I finally had a chance to get out of the gym and see what Colorado had to offer. We went to Zapata Falls it is about 30 miles out of Alamosa a short little hike about a half a mile to the falls then jumping from rock to rock trying not to get our feet wet, but no luck. It was very pretty and lots of fun to get out and enjoy nature haha. Probably the funniest thing on the hike when we asked this serious hiker lady how far the hike to the lake was. As she replied me and Stratton both noticed a little baggy she was holding with something interesting in it. I guess she did not want to leave anything behind and crapped in the bag!!!!! It was pretty funny as we followed behind her and the little blue bag.
